  In an age of rapidly evolving technology and an ever-increasing popularity in electronic devices, it's seemingly becoming more and more difficult to hold our kids' attention. Thankfully, however, educational tools have not been left out of this techno-revolution, and we can use computer games to teach our kids all kinds of different lessons, including animal classification.
  
  

Kid's Corner

• At sheppardsoftware.com you and your child will not only play an animal classification game, but you can also study the traits of the different classifications. Click the "Kid's Corner" icon on the home page of sheppardsoftware.com and then click the "Animal Classification" icon to take you to the study page. There's a list on the side of the page that has all the different animal classes. Click any of these icons to learn more about that type of animal, and when you're finished learning, you can click the "Classification Game!" link to take you to the game. Here, you simply click and drag the specific characteristics belonging to a certain classification of animal into the appropriately labeled bin. Once the bin is full, an example of that kind of animal will pop up on the screen.
  
  

Animal Classes

• The animal classification game at teachersdomain.org is simple, colorful and effective. You can study the qualities of each different animal class by clicking on the "Animal Classes" tab near the top of the page, or you can enjoy the animal classification game by clicking the "Classification Games" tab near the top of the page. When the game begins, an animal will walk, fly or swim across the screen. Select what type of animal it is from the list of given options, and a fact about that animal class will appear on the screen.
  
  

A Touch of Class

• At sciencenetlinks.com, there's a fun and interesting animal classification game called "A Touch of Class" that's sure to help your child improve his animal classification skills. At the beginning of each round, a category will appear at the top of the screen. Select the animals that fall under that category by clicking and lighting up the appropriate tile. When you're finished selecting all the animals that you think fit under the particular category, click the big green "GO" button at the bottom of the screen. Ten points will be awarded for every animal you guessed correctly, and five points will be taken away for every incorrect guess and every animal you miss.
