    • 1). Place the item to be duplicated at the bottom of the plastic container. A section of the item that doesn't need to be seen should be on the bottom, as the mold won't duplicate it.

    • 2). Cover the item and plastic container with mold release agent. This can be either a spray designed for the purpose, or some other lubricant such as petroleum jelly. Be sure the agent doesn't obscure details of the item to be duplicated.

    • 3). Use the small brush to cover the item to be duplicated with the silicon or latex mold compound. This initial layer will allow details of the item to be seen clearly. Brush slowly and carefully to prevent air bubbles.

    • 4). Brush on additional layers of mold compound, or pour mold compound over the object to create the mold. Either way, proceed slowly to avoid creating air pockets.

    • 5). Allow the mold to dry as shown on mold compound instructions.

    • 6). Remove the mold from the plastic container.

    • 7). Remove the original item from the mold. It is accessible on one side, and should be easy to remove from the mold because of the release agent.

    • 8). Clean the mold as directed by the release compound instructions.
