  Maspalomas is a tourist resort in the south of the Spanish island of Gran Canaria which sits behind the Saharan sand dunes and extensive 3.5 mile Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles beaches. Much of the accommodation in the resort is based around bungalow complexes although there are also some apartments and some excellent four and five-star hotels, especially in the Meloneras district of Maspalomas. There are restaurants dotted throughout the resort and in its shopping centers as well as along the seafront. The main land mark in the resort is the Faro de Maspalomas lighthouse finished in 1890 and for many year the only significant structure in the area.

• The Baobab Resort is a 5 star hotel that opened in 2009 in the Meloneras area of the Maspalomas resort. It has 677 rooms and extensive internal gardens and swimming pools. The entire hotel is designed around an African theme and the pools even have their own sand beaches. The hotel is within walking distance of the biggest beach on Gran Canaria and the Maspalomas sand dunes and is close to the upmarket Boulevard Faro shopping and restaurant area..

Gran Hotel Lopesan Villa Del Conde

• The Gran Hotel Lopesan Villa Del Conde is a large five-star hotel with 561 rooms right on the seafront in the Meloneras section of the Maspalomas resort. It was designed to incorporate all the typical elements of Canarian architecture such as hanging wooden balconies and the reception is a full sized reconstruction of the interior of a famous Gran Canarian church. The hotel contains a 3,600 square foot thalassotherapy centre and spa as well as five restaurants, a number of swimming pools and extensive tropical gardens.

Seaside Hotel Palm Beach

• The 328 room Seaside Hotel Palm Beach is situated within the palm tree oasis next to the beach and the lighthouse in Maspalomas. Renovated in 2002 it is one of the oldest five-star hotels in the resort and while it may not have the modern design of its more recent competitors its location is second to none and its natural palm tree gardens spectacular. The Seaside Hotel Palm Beach has three restaurants as well as a pool side bar.

RIU Palace Maspalomas

• The RIU Palacae Maspalomas is in Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas' sister resort, but is included here because of its privileged position overlooking the Maspalomas sand dunes which stretch between the two resorts. It has a beautiful terrace and a 60,000 square foot garden with swimming pools boasting great views of the dunes, the beach and the ocean. Maspalomas Princess

• The four-star Maspalomas Princess is situated about 0.9 miles from the seafront but close to the resort's main shopping center. It boasts 400 rooms and two restaurants and its grounds contain four swimming pools, two of them heated. Facilities include an all day kiddie club and the hotel is only 1,000 feet from the Maspalomas nine-hole golf course.
