How to Get Hairspray Off a Vinyl Floor

    • 1). Sweep the vinyl floor to remove loose dust and dirt from the area.

    • 2). Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of regular hair shampoo with 1 gallon of warm water. Dampen a mop with the solution, and mop the hairspray residue. Dip a nonabrasive sponge into the solution, and scrub the area, if you have difficulty removing the residue with a mop.

    • 3). Remove the hairspray residue with pure ammonia. Pour the ammonia onto a nonabrasive sponge or washcloth, and scrub the residue.

    • 4). Rinse the vinyl floor with clean water. Pour a capful of baby oil into the rinse water to restore the vinyl's shine.

    • 5). Dry the vinyl floor with a towel.
