    • 1). Run a vibrating sander and aluminum oxide sandpaper over the surface of the tiles, dulling the shine. Move the sander slowly over the surface and take off all the shine. Don't sand the grout between the tiles.

    • 2). Wipe away the dust.

    • 3). Apply polyurethane gloss over the tiles one by one, using a paintbrush. Brush it on in a thin, smooth layer, keeping it on the tile surface and off the grout. Let it set for 12 hours.

    • 4). Lightly sand the dried polyurethane with fine-grit sandpaper, using short, quick strokes. Make the surface of the gloss slightly dull. Brush off the dust.

    • 5). Apply a second layer of polyurethane gloss in the same manner as the first. Let it dry for 12 hours. Lightly sand it.

    • 6). Repeat the process of adding a layer of polyurethane, letting it dry, sanding it and re-applying the gloss. Add at least three layers and as many as six, depending on how glossy you want it to look. Let the final layer set for 24 hours.
