Some Slovaks buy their decorations, some are handmade and include wooden figures, straw ornaments in the shapes of balls, rings, stars and angels. The traditional Slovak Christmas tree is decorated with candles, nuts, apples, gingerbread cakes, dried plums or other fruit. More modern trees have glass ornaments and strings of lights.
