    Compass

    • Create a compass while crafting by placing some Redstone Dust in the center square of the 3 x 3 crafting grid and placing four Iron Ingots in the squares directly adjoining it. The needle of the compass will point in the direction of your original spawn point. Turn a compass into a map by crafting it in the center square, surrounded by eight pieces of paper.

    Clock

    • Place a piece of Redstone Dust in the crafting grid with four Gold Ingots in the directly adjoining squares to create a clock. The clock displays the time by showing the position of the sun or the moon relative to the top of the clock. At midday, for example, the sun is at the top of the clock, while at midnight the moon is at the top.

    Dispenser

    • A dispenser is essentially a storage box for your items. When you connect it up to a charge via Redstone Wire, it will spit out a stored item. Create a Dispenser by placing a Bow in the middle of the crafting grid, surrounded by seven Cobblestones and one piece of Redstone Dust.

    Note Block

    • A Note Block produces a musical note when it is hit or hooked up to a charge via Redstone Wire. Set which note the Note Block plays by right-clicking on it. A total of 25 notes are available, covering two octaves of the musical scale. Create a Note Box by crafting a piece of Redstone Dust in the center of the grid, surrounded by eight Wooden Planks.

    Powered Rail

    • Powered Rails are sections of track that boost the speed of any mine cart when it passes over the top of them, as long as the track section is hooked up to a charge through Redstone Wire. Make a Powered Rail by crafting a stick in the center of the grid, with a piece of Redstone Dust in the bottom center position and six Gold Ingots in the side positions. This will create six sections of Powered Rail train track.

    Detector Rail

    • The Detector Rail is a pressure-plate operated switch. When a mine cart runs over the top of a Detector Rail, it sends a signal via Redstone Wires to adjacent pieces of track, such as Powered Rails. Alternately, you can hook it up to a Note Block to sound a note when a cart passes over the Detector Rail. Create Detector Rails by crafting a Stone Pressure Plate in the center of the grid, with six Iron Ingots up the sides and a Redstone Dust in the bottom position.
