Educational Crafts

• Turn that tissue box into a fun opportunity to strengthen your kids' knowledge of things like clocks and how to use a telephone. Make a clock face and glue it to the front of a tissue box. Add arms, legs and a hat. Make the hands movable and your kids will enjoy learning how to tell time. Make a telephone using two tissue boxes, curly ribbon for the phone cord, and colorful paper for the buttons. Teach your kids how to call home, your office or your local emergency numbers.
  
  

Holiday Decorations

• Cover tissue boxes with colorful tissue paper, wrapping paper, buttons and bows to turn it into a one of a kind Easter basket. Cut the face of the tissue box off so kids can access their Easter treats. Leave the tissue box intact and use love themed colors and decorations for a Valentine's Day box. Decorate it like a tombstone and fill it with candy for Halloween.
  
  

Instruments

• Cut a hole in the end of a tissue box and thread a paper towel tube into it. Add strings and tuning knobs to create a guitar for your young musician. Make clappers by gluing two screw lids from baby food or sauce jars on to two tissue boxes. Cut a small slit in the bottom so your fingers can easily slip inside and slap the boxes together so the metal lids hit each other, making a clapping sound. To add maracas to your ensemble band, fill a tissue box half full of hard beans or unpopped popcorn. Tape a wooden ruler to the box, making sure you tape the box fully closed at the same time so the items inside can't escape. Decorate the box and shake those maracas.
  
  

Toys

• Decorate several tissue boxes as railway cars and connect them with yarn or ribbon to make a train, or turn a tissue box into a pet by adding yarn for fur, ears, eyes and a happy face. You can also take a square tissue box and make it into a piggy bank. Cut rings from a toilet paper tube to add feet to the bottom and paint it all pink. Cut a pig face out of construction paper and apply it to the front of the tissue box. Insert and extract the money from the opening designed for the tissues.
