How to Repair Loose Shower Tile
- 1). Remove the loose tile or tiles and scrape the grout from the back and edges of the tile.
- 2). Clear any loose or remaining mortar or other debris from the tile space using a scraper or putty knife blade, so the replaced tile sits flat against the surface.
- 3). Spread a thin layer of tile adhesive across the back surface of the tile using a tile trowel, then set the tile in place and gently press down to spread the adhesive. Use a dampened cloth to remove any adhesive that may squeeze into the grout gap as you press the tile into place.
- 4). Allow the adhesive holding the tile or tiles to cure for a minimum of 24 hours before proceeding to Step 5.
- 5). Mix an appropriate quantity of tile grout, following the manufacturer's directions. Apply the mixture to the grout joints around the replaced tile or tiles using a grout trowel. Press the grout into the joints and leave no gaps. Clean the excess grout from the tile surface with a damp cloth, then let the grout cure for a minimum of 24 hours before applying grout sealer.
