    • 1). Shower daily, using an antibacterial soap to limit bacterial growth on your skin. Avoid hot water showers, which cause dry skin and can lead to itching and discomfort. Towel yourself dry thoroughly. Pay extra attention to skin folds and spaces, such as the underarms and between the toes.

    • 2). Apply antiperspirant or deodorant to your underarms after every shower. Switch brands, if you suddenly notice a drop-off in effectiveness.

    • 3). Wear socks, shoes and clothing made of natural materials. Artificial fabrics often trap moisture against the skin, making body odor worse. If you plan on exercising, choose a fabric with the ability to pull moisture away from your body.

    • 4). Change your socks halfway through the day, and don't wear the same pair of shoes for two days in a row. Your shoes need a full day to dry out after wearing them.

    • 5). Take deep, slow breaths when you feel your stress level rising. A relaxed frame of mind can reduce your perspiration. Yoga and meditation are relaxation techniques worth investigating.

    • 6). Apply antiperspirant to your hands and feet at night, if you notice body odor first thing in the morning.

    • 7). Talk to your doctor when home and over-the-counter remedies are ineffective. She may prescribe a more powerful alternative to store-bought products.
