I'm Sarah, professional makeup artist and licensed aesthetician, and I'm here to tell you how to pick out a good concealer. When you're picking out a concealer you need to get one that is a shade and a half lighter than your natural skin tone. So, whether you're getting a liquid foundation or a stick concealer or even like a wet creamy concealer, you need to make sure that it's a shade and a half lighter than your natural skin tone. If it's too light, it's going to make your skin look gray or kind of violet and if it's too dark it's just going to make it worse. So, you really want to stick to that rule. Also you want to keep in mind that opposing colors neutralize each other. That's why if you have rosacea or very like red blemishes you can go with a green concealer and build on top of that and so forth. So, for our model if we're trying to conceal her we want to, we've already applied foundation which is the first step so now we can see what's left to be covered. We just want to take a little bit on our concealer brush and use our concealer of choice and go over these little areas. Now, some textures of concealers work better for others and some don't. We have found that this works really good for us and once it's on, you just do nice short strokes in a light padded motion and until it's nice and blended. After this what you do is go over it to set your concealer with a loose powder. So, now everything is in place, we have the right concealer on her and she's ready to go.
