    • 1). Make Kiragami designs for Christmas and other winter-themed holidays. Kiragami is origami that involves cutting, as well as folding. Simply fold the origami paper into sixths or eighths. Fold symmetrically, alternating horizontal and vertical folds. Make cuts in the folded paper and along the edges. Unfold to view a beautiful snowflake.

    • 2). Fold stars for Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's, Fourth of July, birthdays and other holidays. Fold a 4-, 5-, 6- or 8-pointed star, depending on the level of difficulty you prefer. Use shiny or textured origami paper, if desired.

    • 3). Fold hearts for Valentine's Day or a wedding anniversary. Use red, pink or white origami paper. Write a romantic note on the paper before folding. Alternatively, fold a heart with a small pocket and insert a little note, piece of candy or other tiny gift.

    • 4). Fold an origami fan to celebrate Chinese New Year, a birthday or other holiday. Choose origami paper with a design on one side. Place the paper on a table or flat surface. Accordion fold the entire piece of paper. To accordion fold, crease and fold one edge of the paper, flip the paper over so the folded side faces down and fold again. Repeat folds until the entire paper is folded. Fold one end of the folded fan up by approximately two centimeters. Unfold the paper above this bend to open the fan.
