Prepare

• 1). Sand your vehicle until the surface is smooth and free of dirt and debris. Start with coarse sand paper and move to a finer grain after the first go-over.
  
  
• 2). Fill in holes and rough patches with body filler. Let dry and sand these spots again.
  
  
• 3). Cover with adhesive tape the headlights, windshield, windows and any other part of the RV you don't want painted. Do this carefully so that the vehicle body surrounding the taped piece will still get an equal coat of paint.
  
  
• 4). Spray car paint primer over the entire body of the RV in an even manner. Go over the vehicle twice with the primer, letting it dry between coats.
  
  

Painting Your RV

• 1). Put on a face mask to prevent particles from getting into your nose and mouth. You may also wish to wear goggles.
  
  
• 2). Paint your RV using car spray paint, applying three coats of paint. Let the vehicle dry between each spray.
  
  
• 3). Seal the paint job with vehicle primer after the RV is completely dry. This will protect the work you just did and keep the vehicle looking new for a longer period of time.
  
  
• 4). Apply sealer after the paint dries. This will protect the work you have just done and keep your RV looking newer for a longer period of time.
  
  
• 5). Remove the adhesive tape after the sealer dries. Your RV is now ready to be taken out on the road.
