Although it can be quite costly, you should try to insulate the loft of your home. This will keep out the cold and trap in the heat. If you have this done, you will notice a massive difference to your heating bill which will pay for itself year after year.

In order to insulate your windows, you could buy curtains that have a special insulated lining. You can either buy this lining yourself and attach it to your existing curtains, or you can buy curtains that already have this lining. Insulated curtains look exactly like normal curtains, so you can find them in the same materials and colors as the standard ones. An added bonus is that these curtains can also block out outside light too.
