How to Make Table Number Holders
- 1). Roll a 1-inch ball of polymer clay in the palm of your hand. Place the ball inside a 2-inch terra cotta flower pot and press it against the bottom, keeping it's ball shape.
- 2). Cut a 12-inch piece of wire from a wire coat hanger using wire cutters. Turn the flower pot upside down and poke the wire through the drain hole and into the clay. Do not poke all the way through the clay.
- 3). Remove the wire. Turn the pot right side up and place on a baking sheet. Bake the pot in the oven according to the instructions on your polymer clay package.
- 4). Bend 2 inches from one end of the wire around a 1/2-inch diameter wood dowel. Bend the 2-inch end straight down. The wire shape will resemble a "U" with one long side. Hold the wire with the bent end at the top. Grasp the short end of the "U" with needle nose pliers and bend the tip out and up creating a hook. This hook will be approximately a 1/2 inch.
- 5). Spray paint the wire black and allow it to dry.
- 6). Base coat the outside of the flower pot using an acrylic paint that coordinates with your party or reception. Note: The paint should be in the same color family as the glitter you will use. Allow the paint to dry.
- 7). Paint a thick layer of craft glue over the painted surface of the pot. Sprinkle glitter over the wet glue and allow to dry.
- 8). Stand the pot upside down. The bottom of the pot is the top of the holder base. Apply craft glue to the straight end of the wire and insert it into the hole of the pot and into the hole in the clay.
- 9). Stamp the table number on both sides of a 1 7/8-inch metal-rim round tag using 1-inch number stamps. Hang the tag on the wire hook.
