Ceramic Tile Information
- It is important that you use the right tile for the job. Ceramic floor tiles are fired at hotter temperatures in the kiln and are harder and more durable than wall tiles.
- One of the advantages of ceramic tile is that it comes in a huge array of colors, textures and shapes and sizes. Most good ceramic tile dealers will have a design expert who can help you choose the right tile.
- Different size ceramic tiles are good for different applications. For example, it takes less time to lay a floor if you use larger tiles 18- or 20-inch tiles.
- Ceramic tile installed correctly on backerboard and with sealed grout has excellent water resistant qualities for tiling in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
- Expect to pay between $2 to $5 per square foot for good quality ceramic tile and $10 to $15 dollars per square foot for high-end and accent tiles, as of 2009.
