How do I Put a Battery in a Sweda Watch?
- 1). Turn the watch over and examine the case back to determine if the watch has a screw back or a snap back case. If it has several slots, it is a screw back. If it is smooth with an indent on the side of the case back, it is a snap back.
- 2). Use the flat blade of a small standard screwdriver, such as the one used for eyeglasses, to turn the slots on a screw back watch in a counterclockwise motion and open the watch back.
- 3). Insert the blade of the screwdriver in the indent on the side of the watch for a snap back case and gently rock it back and forth to pop open the watch back.
- 4). Remove the watch battery. Many batteries can be removed by simply lifting them out with your fingers. If there is a clip holding the battery in place, use the screwdriver to loosen the screw on the clip and remove the battery. If you have difficulty removing the battery with your fingers, insert the edge of the screwdriver blade underneath the battery to lift it up.
- 5). Replace the watch battery with a new one. Place the new battery in the watch and pop it into place with your fingers. Replace the clip and tighten with the screwdriver, if there is a battery clip. You can purchase a watch battery at most drugstores, hardware stores or watch repair stores. If you are not certain what type of watch battery to buy, use the old watch battery as a guide.
- 6). Place the snap back case on the watch and realign the indent on the side of the watch. Push the case back gently until it pops back into place.
- 7). Place the screw back case on the watch and use the screwdriver to turn the tips in a clockwise direction to close the watch back.
- 8). Reset the watch if necessary.
