Why Is There No Sound When I Get a Text on My iPhone?
Instructions
1Access your iPhone's sound settings by tapping the “Settings” icon on the Home Screen, then tapping “Sounds.”
2
Adjust the slider under “Ringer and Alerts.” If the slider has been turned all the way down, your iPhone won't make a sound when you receive texts or calls. Move the slider to the right to increase the volume of your text alerts.
3
Check the Ring/Silent switch on on the upper-left side of your iPhone. If the switch is toggled on the side of the bell symbol, your phone is in Ring mode, and it will play all system sounds, including ring tones and text alerts. If the switch is toggled toward Silent mode, indicated by the crossed-out bell symbol, your phone will not ring and will not emit text sounds or other system sounds. Flip the switch to Ring mode to bring sound back to your text messages.
