How to Install Nitrous in a 2000 Camaro
- 1). Mount the nitrous oxide bottle in the back of your 2000 Camaro, approximately even with the rear axle by bolting the mounting brackets to the floor of the car. The bottle itself will be mounted to the brackets with a quick release compression band.
- 2). Route the nitrous line from the bottle through the floor of the car, then to the engine compartment along the same route as the fuel and brake line.
- 3). Install the nitrous pressure switch on the throttle body so that the nitrous only engages when the car is at wide open throttle, then mount the nitrous "On/Off" switch in the cabin of the car. Route the two electrical lines from the switch behind the dashboard, through the firewall and into the engine compartment.
- 4). Mount the nitrous oxide control unit on the firewall, and then attach the two switch wires to the control unit. Run a wire from the pressure switch to the designated place on the nitrous control unit.
- 5). Install the nitrous injection nozzle into the air intake, fuel rail or the throttle body housing, whichever is designated by the specific kit you are installing, then route the nitrous lines from the nozzle to the nitrous solenoid. Wire the solenoid to the nitrous control unit, then connect the nitrous line running from the bottle to the solenoid.
- 6). Run the power wire to the fuse box of the Camaro, and splice it with the ignition wire. This will ensure that the power to the nitrous unit is on when the car is on, and off when the car is off. Attach the ground wire running from the nitrous control unit to a clean, unpainted ground connection to complete the circuit.
