How to Make Swag Rosettes
- 1). Cut the duplicate curtain swag panels to a length of 3 yards and a width of 1 foot plus 2 inches. Sew 1/2-inch hems on each long side of the panel lengths by folding the edges over 1/2 inch twice, pinning and sewing.
- 2). Thread the needle with a length of thread measuring 4 feet. Double the thread and knot it securely.
- 3). Stitch evenly along one long edge of the ribbon of curtain fabric. Pull the thread to half its length to gather.
- 4). Beginning at the edge end closest to the needle, begin spiraling the rosette by folding the first 3 inches over and tacking it down with tiny stitches. Continue the spiral by tacking the fabric every 3 inches.
- 5). End the rosette by tacking the final 3-inch edge to the back of the completed rosette. Attach the rosette to the curtain swag with small stitches.
- 6). Check the length of the purchased swag. Some curtain manufacturers will make swags long enough for both a swag and a rosette.
