Spirit, Ego and Law of Attraction
You are the 'I' that chooses to let Spirit or Ego have control of your life.
Happiness depends on you choosing to let Spirit be in the driver's seat of your thoughts, feelings and actions.
I believe there are three main components to how we consciously participate in our human experience.
There is our Spirit, our Ego and our 'I'.
The core of your soul is the 'I'.
The Spirit and Ego help to guide the 'I'.
We always have the choice whether to live from Spirit or Ego.
We hear both voices in our head and the I gets to choose which one gets the drivers seat at any given time.
It's that old story of the Angel and the Devil on your shoulder.
Those two voices are chattering away at us all the time.
Then we make a choice on who to listen to.
Sometimes we consciously make that choice and sometimes we make that choice on a subconscious level.
Many people who are on a path of spiritual growth think that they must abolish the Ego completely, they must fight or defeat the Ego.
That belief right there actually is Ego driven.
The Ego does serve a purpose.
The Ego does have it's place in your human experience.
We must learn to come to peace and understanding with our Ego, rather than defeat it.
The Ego is trying to help us.
It is just lost and confused on the best way to do that.
Our Higher Self, or Spirit, is also trying to help us.
Spirit always has a much easier and more beneficial path.
However the Ego is clever.
The Ego will present us with options that look like the better path, even though most often it is not.
When we can come to a place where we stop trying to fight the Ego and we can come to peace and understanding, with it, we can experience true harmony and inner peace in our lives.
When you try to deny the Ego completely, it gets stronger.
It finds your weaknesses, your lower desires, bad habits, addictions, etc.
and draws them to you, so that the Ego can regain control.
Perhaps you are familiar with the Law Of Attraction.
The Law Of Attraction is used by both The Spirit and The Ego.
It is our thoughts and feelings that activate The Law Of Attraction.
Both Spirit and Ego have their turns at controlling our thoughts and feelings.
If the Ego is denied completely for too long, it will use it's influence in your thoughts to attract the things that you are most tempted by, that will lower your vibrational energy.
This is how the Ego ensures it's survival.
It is wise to allow your Ego to have some play time here and there, rather than completely deny it.
The key, however, is to be consciously aware of when you are giving your Ego that time to play.
For many people, they are unaware that they have the choice, so their Ego takes full control without them even realizing it.
It is similar to if a parent was in a deep deep sleep and their teenage son had full control of their house, car, money and everything else and was doing whatever they wanted, with it all, with no supervision.
Choose the appropriate times to give your Ego it's 'play time'.
Consciously make the choice and feel okay about that choice, without guilt.
When you choose the times your Ego gets control, it protects you from the Ego taking control, without you realizing it, at inopportune moments.
Now this takes practice, awareness and also the practice of strengthening your connection to Spirit.
We all have different levels that we are connected to either Ego or Spirit.
Some are much more connected to Ego and some are more connected to Spirit.
Start to create new habits that strengthen your connection to Spirit.
Meditate, exercise, go to a spiritual growth center or church, listen to peaceful music, spend time in nature, listen to inspirational speakers, hire a spiritual life coach, read inspirational books and articles like this one.
The stronger your connection to Spirit, the more control you have with your Ego and the more you are able to shower your Ego with unconditional love.
Always remember that you are the 'I' that has the power to choose to listen to your Higher Self or your Ego.
Neither choice is 'right' or 'wrong'.
The important thing is that you consciously make the choice and don't unconsciously live your life on auto-pilot, reacting to your surroundings without conscious awareness.
