How to Hack Vista Home Basic to an Aero Desktop
- 1). Open the Windows Vista Registry Editor. To do so, click on the "Start" button, type "Regedit" and press the "Enter" key.
- 2). Expand the registry keys labeled "HKEY_CURRENT_USER," "Software," "Microsoft," "Windows" and "DWM" by double-clicking on them.
- 3). Double-click the registry entry labeled "Composition" on the right side of the Registry Editor window. Set the value inside the value data field from 0 to 1 and click "OK." Next, double-click the registry key labeled "CompositionPolicy" and change the value inside value data field to 2. Click "OK" to continue.
- 4). Create two new DWORD registry entries. To do so, right-click a vacant area within the right side of the Registry Editor window, point to "New" and select "DWORD Value." Name one registry entry as "Glass" and name the other registry entry as "ForceSoftWareD3D."
- 5). Double-click the "Glass" registry entry and set the value inside the value data field to 1. Next, double-click the ForceSoftWareD3D registry entry and set the value inside the value data field to 0.
- 6). Exit the Registry Editor by clicking "File" and "Exit."
- 7). Open the Services Configuration Panel. To do so, click the "Start" button, type "Services.msc" and press the "Enter" key.
- 8). Scroll down to the service labeled "Desktop Windows Manager" and click on it. Next, click on the option labeled "Restart" to restart the selected service. The Windows Aero theme will automatically show up the next time you start Windows Vista Home Basic.
