    Power Issues

    • 1). Press the "MENU" button on the remote. It's possible the TV is on but has a problem with its video input, making the screen appears black. If the TV is on when you press "MENU," the on-screen menu will appear.

    • 2). Press the TV power button instead of using the remote. If the TV turns on, the problem is with your remote, and you should replace the batteries or check to see if an object is obstructing the remote sensor on the TV, which is near the bottom right corner on the front.

    • 3). Check the power supply to the TV. Try plugging in something that you know is working properly, such as a lamp, to see if there is power to the outlet. If there is no power, the breaker may be tripped or you may need an electrician to repair the power supply.

    Video Problems

    • 1). Change the channel or press the "INPUT" button if the picture doesn't appear properly. If other channels or video inputs display correctly, the problem may be with the broadcast itself or with the device, including a gaming console, that your TV is connected to. If you believe a device isn't set up properly for your TV, check its instruction manual for a solution.

    • 2). Look at all of the video cables and make sure they're securely connected to your TV. If a cable has fallen out of its jack or is loose, the picture might distort or disappear altogether.

    • 3). Change the picture mode if the colors or brightness does not look correct to you. You can try some of the TV's presets to see if they look better, or you can adjust the TV's individual picture options. You find the presets by pressing the "PICTURE" button on the remote, and you find specific video options by pressing the "MENU" button and selecting "PICTURE," then "Advanced Control."

    Audio Problems

    • 1). Adjust the volume with the buttons on the remote if the audio doesn't work. You may have accidentally muted the TV.

    • 2). Change the channel or press the "INPUT" button if the audio isn't present or sounds unusual. If the audio from another channel or another input sounds correct, the broadcast itself may not be working properly or the device, such as a DVD player or gaming console, connected to your 50PG20 TV may not be set up properly. For the latter, you should check the device's documentation to find out how to fix it.

    • 3). Make sure all of the cables are connected securely. If a cable has fallen out of its jack or is loose, the audio may be distorted or not present at all.

    • 4). Check to see that the speakers are turned on in the TV menu; the speakers should only be off if you're outputting the audio to external speakers. You find the speaker power options by pressing the "MENU" button and selecting "AUDIO," and then scrolling down to the "TV Speaker" option.

    • 5). Check the speaker balance if you have audio from one speaker but not another. You find the "Balance" option by pressing the "MENU" button and selecting "AUDIO," then "Balance." This option controls the audio use of the left and right speakers. Most likely the balance should be set in the middle, equal between the left and right speakers.
