How to Paint a Room With Cathedral Ceilings
- 1). Remove or cover any furniture to prepare the room. If you are not removing furniture from the room, move them to the center of the room and cover with drop cloths so they are protected from paint.
- 2). Tape the baseboards with painter's tape to protect it when you begin to paint. If the cathedral ceilings will be a different color, tape the area where the wall meets the cathedral ceiling so there is a straight edge when painting is complete.
- 3). Climb a ladder to reach the high parts of the wall. If the walls are too high for a ladder, rent scaffolding for the project so you can reach the higher spots.
- 4). Paint the cathedral ceilings a contrasting color than other architectural elements in the room, such as beams or skylights. This draws people's attention up to the details.
- 5). Choose paint color that is not as bright as the walls if you want to downplay the ceilings in the room.
- 6). Begin painting in a V shape so there aren't any visible lines in the paint when it is dry.
