Tying Instructions for a Homemade Lanyard
- 1). Prepare a flat clear space to work where you can leave you work undisturbed if you put it down for a while.
- 2). Hold two very long equal lengths of the craft lace together. Make a fold in the middle so that they are both folded in half equally. You are halving the length plus the braiding will make it still shorter so make sure you have a very long piece to begin.
- 3). Secure the strand together by tying a knot at the top incorporating both pieces of the craft lace. You should now have four strands of thread or lace of equal lengths.
- 4). Lay the lace on the flat surface and spread out the four pieces so that they are individual threads joined at the top. Label them with a small piece of tape at the end --- 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- 5). Take the piece that says 4 and hold it near the knot. Bring it up and over the piece that says 1. Now take the piece that says 1 and bring it over the pieces that say 2 and 4. Bring the 2 piece over the 3 piece. Lastly, bring the piece that says 3 over the one that says 4. This will be the pattern you follow throughout the braiding.
- 6). Hold both ends of the lace and pull in order to make the first knot tight. Repeat Step 5 and tighten after each set of knots. Continue to do this until you reach the length you desire.
