Why Doesn't My iPod Touch Have an Apps Icon?
- The iPod touch is organized simply: icons for all applications, regardless of their importance or how often you use the, appear on the iPod touch's main screen. Apps extend to second and third screens if you have large numbers of them installed on your iPod Touch. Proper applications such as "Blackjack" and "Hipstamatic" appear alongside tools such as "Notes" and "Calculator," which come pre-installed on the device -- there isn't a separate "Apps" icon you need to press to access them.
- The one icon you will see on your iPod touch's desktop that bears the word "App" is Apple's "AppStore." Just as iTunes is the company's official portal for downloading and purchasing music, the AppStore is home to all applications registered with Apple. Tapping the AppStore icon takes you to a place where you can browse and buy applications -- and where you can download available updates for all the apps you already have installed on your iPod Touch.
- If you aren't satisfied with the organization of apps on your iPod Touch desktop, you can re-organize them with only a few touches on its screen. To get started, hold your finger over any of the icons on the desktop. Then, once the icons have begun moving back and forth, tap down on any you want to move and drag and drop them where you want them to appear. Move frequently used applications to the row of four applications at the bottom of your screen.
- The process of deleting apps is just as simple as moving them around. You get started in the same way -- hold down your finger over the app you want to delete. Instead of moving the icon somewhere else on the screen, however, you should tap the black circle with an "x" inside it to indicate you want to delete the App. Tapping a star rating to let the developer know what you thought of the app removes it from your system for good.
