    Viewing PDFs on a Mac or PC

    • 1). Launch the Preview program on the Mac by double clicking its icon inside the "Applications" folder. Drag the PDF onto the icon of the Preview program--the icon is in the Dock to the left or at the bottom of the screen. Read the PDF once it appears on the screen. Quit the Preview program when you are done reading the PDF. Alternatively, a PDF file on a Mac will open in Preview by default if you double-click the file.

    • 2). Download and install the Mac or PC version of Adobe Reader (see the link in Resources). Restart the PC after installation. Launch Adobe Reader by double-clicking its icon inside the "Applications" folder on a Mac or by selecting it from the Start > All Applications> Adobe > Reader pop-up menu in Windows. On the Mac, drag the PDF document onto the Adobe Reader icon--the icon is in the Dock to the left or at the bottom of the screen. On a PC, double-click the PDF document and Adobe Reader will open it. Read the PDF once it appears on the screen. Quit the program once you are done reading the PDF document.

    • 3). Click once on the PDF document if using a Mac. Press the space bar to activate the "Quick Look" feature. Read the PDF once it appears on the screen. Press the space bar when you are done reading the PDF to make it go away.
