What is Causing my Acne?

Do you have those acne pimples and scares that are keeping you from putting your best face forward?Do those pimples and scares make you want to stay at home?Are you tired of looking in the mirror in the morning only to try to decide what to do to get rid of those pimples and scares? Well, you are not alone!There are over 17 million people who are affected by acne scares and pimples.
Did you know that 85% of adolescents and adults have pimples? Alright you say, what causes these pimples and scares? Acne pimples and scares occurs when the pores on your face, upper back and chest are clogged and the natural oil or sebum that your skin produces can't reach the surface.
The sebaceous glands are connected to the hair follicles and when these glands are clogged and dead skin cells and bacteria are produced your skin develops the pimples, white heads and black heads can last a long time therefore causing irritation and inflammation of the skin.
The longer these pimples last and the more rubbing, squeezing, popping or picking you do on the pimples the more bacteria that develops.
When this occurs the act of picking, rubbing and squeezing further encourages the bacteria to move into the deeper layers of your skin.
There are also other reported factors that can also either produce acne or can prolong the pimples, white heads and blackheads.
oSome acne can stem from sex hormones or androgens.
As your body changes so do your hormones and this can produce the pimples and acne that you see on your face.
oOther factors that can contribute to acne outbreaks are tight collars, hats and shoulder bags.
If you do have an outbreak of acne, you may want to consider unbuttoning your collar, change your hat or switch to a hand held bag for transporting needed materials.
oStress is another factor that can have an affect on acne.
When you are under a lot of stress you may tend to move to eating on the run, or eating at fast food establishments that have highly fried foods or very rich foods.
All of these factors can lead to an outbreak.
So, how can I reduce or get rid of these pimples, white heads and black heads?There are some steps that you can take to reduce outbreaks.
oWash your face twice a day.
Make sure that you take make-up off before going to bed.
Try not to scrub your have harshly as this could cause an outbreak of acne pimples.
oStay away from greasy make-up.
If you can move into water based make up.
oSee a dermatologist for severe acne or if your acne is causing problems with you self concept.
