When Does a Cocoa Tree Bear Fruit?
- Most cocoa trees typically begin to bear fruit in their fifth year. It is not uncommon, however, for them to begin bearing fruit by year three or four, according to the World Cocoa Foundation.
- Cocoa trees reach their peak production in their 10th year. This period of peak production can last until the tree is 20 or 25 years old.
- Some cocoa trees can continue to bear fruit until they are 40 years old. Although the tree is no longer in peak production, they can continue to bear fruit until they die.
