How to Shave your Head
- 1). Wet your scalp with warm water in the shower for 10 minutes to soften the hair and skin, or apply a hot towel to your scalp for 10 minutes prior to shaving.
- 2). Pour a nickel-sized amount of pre-shave oil into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together. Massage the oil into your scalp to soften the hair and prepare the skin for shaving.
- 3). Cover your scalp with a glycerin-based shaving cream to create a thick lather. A glycerin-based shaving cream is preferred, as drugstore shaving creams tend to have denatured alcohol (found as alcohol denat) that tightens the skin.
- 4). Wet your razor with hot water, and shave the sides and back of your head with long strokes from top to bottom. Rinse off your razor's head after each stroke to remove hair and soap to prevent clogging the head.
- 5). Shave the crown of your head from back to front using long strokes, and rinse the razor head after each stroke.
- 6). Rinse your scalp with warm water to remove excess soap. Re-lather and shave any spots you may have missed during the initial shave, and rinse your scalp again using cool water instead of warm to close your pores.
- 7). Pour a nickel to quarter-sized amount of moisturizing lotion into the palm of your hands, and rub your hands together. Gently blot the lotion onto your scalp to prevent scalp irritation.
- 1). Set your clippers to the lowest setting and slowly buzz off your hair starting from the front to the back of your crown (top of head).
- 2). Remove hair buildup from the clippers as you shave. Shave the left and right sides of your head from top to bottom, and shave the back left and back right sections of your head.
- 3). Gently buzz hair off your neck. Carefully run the clippers over the neck, as the neck is sensitive and can easily be nicked by the clippers.
- 4). Rub your scalp as you remove the hair to feel for areas you may have missed while buzzing your hair. Run the clippers over missed spots to even out your cut.
- 5). Rinse your scalp with warm water to remove hair clippings, and wipe the clippers to remove hair from the blades.
