Gently washing your face is the way to go. Scrubbing is bad for you! Scrubbing can leave your face open for pore clogging agents. Putting too much pressure on your skin when you wash your face can injure the sensitive skin you are trying to keep clean and can leave it more damaged than anything else. You could even scar your face if you scrub it too hard! It is important that you learn how to wash your face gently but firmly. This sounds harder than it actually is. You do not want your face to be bright red after you wash it. A flushed face is okay as long as it is not bright red. A little bit of a glow is healthy but resembling a stop sign is not.

If you suffer from extreme acne problems, you'll want to find a cleanser that contains a high level of salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Skincare developers made these cleansers specifically to attack acne that normal cleansers don't seem to affect that much. These cleansers are strong enough to damage faces who are not set up to accommodate them so, if your acne is not severe, you should choose something more gentle. If your acne really is hard to deal with, the harsher cleansers might be just what you need to get clear skin.

When you do experience a breakout or some acne, treat it but don't pick it! Do not squeeze pimples or pick at zits. You should always leave your acne alone so it will heal properly. You can still wash your face and you might even want to treat some acne with acne reducing products but do not ever pick or pop your pimples. It is true that acne can take a few days to heal properly. What would your rather have happen? A pimple on your face for a couple of days or a pimple scar for the rest of your life?

There is no rule that says acne combat needs to be expensive or extremely complicated. Getting rid of acne is as simple as keeping your face clean. Remember, though, that your face is sensitive so be gentle with it! The idea is to clean your face without stripping off the skin!
