How to Do a Clipper Cut Ponytail
- 1). Use a comb or brush to completely detangle hair before beginning. Split hair into three sections, one on each side and another on top. Use a clip to keep the top layer out of the way, as it will not be used until the end.
- 2). Guide the two side sections of hair back into a ponytail that lies fairly high up on the back of your head. The hair should be pulled back as tight as possible. Make a ponytail out of the two side sections by pulling them back and tying them together with a hair band.
- 3). Release the top section and bring it back to the ponytail on the back of your head. This section should not be tight at all. To loosen the hair, hold the top section to the first ponytail and push in the opposite direction so the top section of hair creates a loose poof on the top of your head. Clip the poof in place using a bobby pin at the base, right above the ponytail.
- 4). Take another hair band and wrap the second layer of hair so it is attached to the first ponytail.
