Having acne can sometimes seem like fighting a never ending battle.
However, contrary to what you may think, the first step to beating acne is to control the excess oil.

Use gentle cleansers only.
If your skin has a tendency to be oily, then you probably do not need to purchase fancy beauty soaps that contain fatty ingredients.
This will only create additional oil buildup.
Basic body soaps such as Ivory usually do a great job of cleansing without leaving more oil on the skin.

Some doctors recommend using any brand of astringent that contains glycolic or fruit acids.

The only downside is that some astringents may irritate or dry out the skin at first.

Check the labels to make sure that they are labeled oil-free or noncomedogenic--meaning that the item has less pore-clogging ingredients.

Clear up those dark spots.
A good way to clear up dark acne spots and even out your complexion is to apply a fade cream.
Fade creams that contain hydroquinone can help to remove those dark marks that often show up after an acne breakout.
It is important to use this kind of product wisely.
Misuse of hydroquinone can result in skin irritation or discoloration.
