    Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

    • A diploma or GED is required to apply to a college for human resources. Before beginning college courses, this is the first step in working toward a human resource degree. Having the required grade point average for college admission is important. Also, completing the application process to be accepted into the program is a requirement. An applicant must meet all of the requirements set forth by the college.

    College Courses

    • Educational requirements for human resources degree are set forth by the college. General required classes such as English, math, speech and humanities are required.

      Degree-specific courses include human resources, compensations and benefits, labor laws, industrial psychology, quantitative analysis, information management and employee health and safety. To obtain a degree in human resources, students must have passing grades in all classes.

    Degrees in Human Resources

    • A human resource degree is designed to offer a graduate the information and knowledge required to hire employees, explain benefits, keep employee records and offer employer relations. An associate's degree is offered in human resource. It generally takes two years to complete. After completing an associate's degree, a graduate will be prepared to work in an entry-level position. A Bachelor of Science degree is designed to be completed in four years. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, the graduate will be ready to move to an assistant level position.
