Human resources is the department within a company that connects potential employees with the jobs available. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, strong interpersonal skills are required in human resource occupations. Workers in human resources are required to recruit and interview employees as well as offer knowledge on compensation packages available by the company. - A diploma or GED is required to apply to a college for human resources. Before beginning college courses, this is the first step in working toward a human resource degree. Having the required grade point average for college admission is important. Also, completing the application process to be accepted into the program is a requirement. An applicant must meet all of the requirements set forth by the college.

A Bachelor of Science degree is designed to be completed in four years. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree, the graduate will be ready to move to an assistant level position.
