How to Finish Off Wall Tiles
- 1). Mix a batch of sanded grout. Use the amounts of grout mixture and water recommended on the grout packaging. Use grout that's specifically recommended for the tile's location.
- 2). Spread grout over the surface of the installed tiles with a grout float. Press the grout into the spaces between the tiles with the edge of the float. Run the edge of the float over the tiles to remove excess grout.
- 3). Wipe any grout that gets on the surface of the tiles away immediately with a dry rag. Go across the entire tiled area until all of the spaces between the tiles are filled. Let the grout between the tiles dry for 24 hours.
- 4). Clean the tiles with a wet rag.
- 5). Seal the tiles after two to three weeks. Brush sealer over the entire tiled area with a paintbrush if sealing porous tiles, using the amount of sealer recommended on the manufacturer's label. Apply sealer only to the grout between tiles if sealing non-porous tiles, and immediately wipe away any sealer that gets on the surfaces of the tiles with a rag.
