How to Turn Off the Security System on a Laptop
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and click the "Control Panel." Click "Security Center."
- 2). Click the "Automatic Updates" link. Click "Turn off Automatic Update" and click "Apply." Click "OK" to save the changes. This prevents Windows from automatically downloading and installing updates from Microsoft.
- 3). Click the "Windows Firewall" link and click "Turn off Windows Firewall." Click "Apply" and click "OK" to save the changes. Turning off the Windows Firewall allows all ports and applications to connect to the Internet.
- 4). Click "Change the way the Security Center notifies me" in the left panel and click "Don't notify me and don't display the icon (not recommended)" in the window that appears. Click "OK" to save the changes. Move to the next step if you want to turn off the Security Center completely instead of specific components.
- 5). Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Start Search." Type "services.msc" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the Services console.
- 6). Scroll through the Services console and locate "Security Center." Right-click it and click "Properties." Select "Disabled" under "Startup Type" and click "Stop." Click "OK" to save the changes and restart your computer. The Security Center is turned off and does not display in the system tray.
