If you're ex keeps telling you about things they are doing that are new for them or different they may be trying to impress you.
They want to let you see they are trying to make improvements in their lives to better themselves and hoping it will please you enough to want them back.
If they are upfront with you and tell you they miss you and want you back, how much more blatant can you get.
But many people do not take it as a serious sign because they don't believe it, as if it is a trick.
