What Is a Nortel RAN PBX?
- Nortel produces RAN PBX consoles for various types of conferencing consoles. Each console has a specific number of telephone lines and telephones it supports. The RAN describes the network while PBX describes the branch exchange. RAN PBX consoles connect to a computer for remote access.
- The RAN is the wireless communicator between your service provider's network and your Nortel RAN PBX device. The RAN also allows for remote access from a computer to setup, configure and control the Nortel consoles as well as its attached telephones and lines.
- PBX refers to the private branch exchange owned and operated by the business associated with a particular Nortel device. This allows several internal telephone lines to function together with one Nortel console. A PBX allows these telephone lines to be reached as internal extensions while having a specific number for external communications, all combined in one private telephone network.
