How to Make Welcome Cards
- 1). Choose the materials that will be used to create the card and gather them all together at your workspace. Decide on the colors and other elements of the card, and prepare what will be written on the card ahead of time so that you can have the words on hand.
- 2). Use a personal paper trimmer to cut the paper or card stock to the desired card size. Be sure to cut the width twice as long as needed. Create a crease down the center of the card using a bone folder and a ruler. Press the bone folder into the paper to make the fold.
- 3). Fold the card and write a short message on the front side of it, perhaps "Welcome" would be sufficient. Create a design on the front of the card using stickers and other embellishments as desired. Open the card and decorate the first page as well. Carry the front cover theme over to this page.
- 4). Write the welcome message onto the second page of the inside of the card. Use a message such as "Welcome to the neighborhood. Stop by for a visit anytime!" or "I want to welcome you to the family. Thank you for becoming my sister-in-law!" Add a personal message as well, if desired, and sign the card. Decorate this page minimally with more embellishments, or leave it undecorated.
- 5). Close the card and turn it over so that you can see the back of it. Write your name and the date on the bottom center of the card, so that the recipient knows that it is a homemade creation. Write something to the effect of "This card was created by..." Place the card in a pre-made envelope. Close the envelope and address it. Give the card to the intended recipient the next time you see her.
