How to Install an ATN File in Elements

    • 1). Click the Windows "Start" button, and then click "Computer."

    • 2). Click on the "C:\" drive, or the drive where your operating system is installed.

    • 3). Click the "programdata" folder. The folder may be hidden. If it's hidden, click the "Tools" option on the top navigation bar of Windows Explorer, and then click "Folder Options." Click the radio button next to the "Show Hidden Files, Folders, Drives" option. Click "OK."

    • 4). Navigate to the following path and click on the "Photo Effects" folder:

      C:\programdata\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects

    • 5). Close the Photoshop Elements program, if it's open.

    • 6). Drag the ATN file from its current location and drop the file into the "Photo Effects" folder.

    • 7). Open the Photoshop Elements application, and then open any image in the program. The Effects palette will now display the new action defined by the ATN File.

    • 8). Click the "Photo Effects" button in the "Effects" panel, and then click the drop-down list next to the Photo Effects button. Click "Show All."

    • 9). Click the button on the right of the word "Effects" and then click "Show Names." The action is now visible in the Photo Effects list.
