How to Replace the Screen on a BlackBerry 8700G
- 1). Turn the BlackBerry over and slide the back battery cover down and off of the device. Remove the battery from the compartment.
- 2). Use your small Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws on the bottom corners and the single screw on the top corner of the battery compartment.
- 3). Insert the tip of your plastic pry tool (available from most electronics stores) in the seam between the back cover of the BlackBerry and the body of the device.
- 4). Work you way around the seams until the back cover separates from the body of the BlackBerry. Set the back cover aside.
- 5). Remove the four screws (two on each side) from the sides of the BlackBerry housing.
- 6). Use your fingers to gently pry the front cover off the BlackBerry. You can now see the whole screen connected to the green motherboard.
- 7). Pop the four clips (two on each side) on the sides of the screen up and lift the screen slightly off of the motherboard to expose the orange screen cable.
- 8). Unplug the orange screen cable from its port on the motherboard and set the old screen aside.
- 9). Fit the new screen over the motherboard, plug in the cable and secure the four tabs. Reassemble your BlackBerry in the reverse order you disassembled it.
