How to Make Fimo Molds
- 1). Knead 1 lb. of Fimo polymer clay for 3 minutes to 4 minutes. This will remove air bubbles inside the clay, which can cause the finished clay mold to break apart. Form the Fimo clay into a ball.
- 2). Slice the Fimo ball in half with a clay wire. The clay wire will slice the clay with a clean edge.
- 3). Place the item you want to mold in between the two Fimo clay halves, and press the two halves around the item. Squeeze the ball firmly around the item.
- 4). Peel the two halves of Fimo clay apart and remove the item. There will be an impression of the item on both halves.
- 5). Place the molded FImo clay halves onto a cookie sheet with the impression sides facing up. Bake the Fimo molds in a 200-degree Fahrenheit oven for 15 minutes. Let the molds cool for 1 hour before using them to make castings.
