    • 1). Blow up the round balloon to the desired size and tie. Cut a piece of string approximately 12-inches long. Tie the string to the balloon knot. Loop the opposite end of the string over a clothes hanger. Clip the string to the clothes hanger with a clothespin.

    • 2). Hang the clothes hanger in a location that the balloon is easily accessible from all sides. Spread several sheets of newspaper under the hanging balloon.

    • 3). Tear 40 to 60 strips of newspaper approximately 1-inch wide and 6-inches long. Tear more strips as needed depending on the size of the sphere.

    • 4). Pour 1 cup of white glue and 1 cup of water in a plastic container. Mix the contents of the container to create a paper mache glue.

    • 5). Dip a strip of newspaper into the paper mache glue. Pull the wet strip of paper through your thumb and forefinger to remove excess liquid. Place the strip on the round balloon. Smooth the paper into place. Repeat the process using an overlap, criss-cross pattern over the surface of the balloon leaving a 1/2-inch opening around the balloon knot. Allow the newspaper to dry for 30 minutes.

    • 6). Add two more layers of newspaper strips over the balloon allowing a 30 minute dry time between each layer's application. Let the paper mache sphere dry for 12 hours before continuing.

    • 7). Remove the clothespin from the clothes hanger. Pop the balloon with a needle. Carefully emove the string and popped balloon from the paper sphere.

    • 8). Cover the hole in the sphere with four to six pieces of paper mache strips. Allow the strips to air dry completely before finishing the outside of the sphere with the desired decoration.
