How to Connect Your MP3 to Your Car
- 1). Connect the MP3 player to a 1/8-inch stereo cable with ends the same size as a headphone jack. Connect one end to the MP3 player's headphone port and the other to the "Aux In" port on the car stereo.
- 2). Change the stereo input device to "Aux" (other input options include FM, AM or CD player).
- 3). Turn on the MP3 player. The track being played on the device will play through the car stereo.
- 1). Purchase an FM transmitter for your MP3 device. These are sold at most electronic stores and online retailers.
- 2). Plug the supplied 1/8-inch stereo cord from the transmitter into the MP3 player. Some MP3 players, such as iPods, have transmitters that plug into the charge point of the device so check before you buy.
- 3). Turn on the FM transmitter and MP3 player. Set a station following the transmitter instructions. Turn on the car stereo and select the input device as "FM." Tune to the matching station frequency on the car stereo and you will hear the output from your MP3 player. Remember to select an unused stereo channel to avoid outside interference.
- 1). Purchase a cassette adapter for your MP3 player. These are available from most electronic stores and online retailers.
- 2). Insert the cassette adapter into the tape player of your car stereo, with the wire end at the opening of the deck. Set the input device of the car stereo to "Cassette."
- 3). Connect the 1/8-inch stereo lead extending from the adapter to your MP3 player. Turn on the MP3 player. You will now hear your MP3 songs through the car stereo.
- 1). Attach the MP3 player to the car stereo via the USB cable provided with the MP3 player.
- 2). Turn on the MP3 player.
- 3). Set the input device to USB. You can then play the songs from your MP3 player on the car stereo. Some stereo units playing MP3s through this method even allow you to make song selections through the car stereo head unit.
