It is needed that swimming pool pumps are checked regularly so that contaminants and other debris cannot infect the pool.
If this is done, you are assured to have a clean and perfect pool for you and your guests.
To clean the swimming pool pump at home, you will need a garden hose or you can take out and prepare a bucket of water before you start your cleaning.
First, you need to shut down power of the pool pump.
You can do this by taking out the plug or connection from the pool pump.
Next, you need to check the rim of the pool's pump cover.
You can loosen it when you use a specialized rubber mallet.
Then the next step is to unscrew the pump cover and inner lining manually.
Check if the ring has cracks so you will know if you need to replace this part.
You can easily purchase replacements at any hardware store.
Now that you have unscrewed the pump cover, it is now time to remove the pool pump.
Take note of the pump's shape.
Is it basked shaped or circular? This is important so that you will know more about the type of tool or part replacement you need to purchase.
After this, you can clean the filter by washing it thoroughly with a hose or bucket of water.
After you have done this, you can now replace the swimming pool filter and put the cover back by screwing the part.
Again, you can use the rubber mallet to do this.
The next thing you need to do is to plug the power again.
You can now inspect your pump for any leaks.
