Things You'll Need

Instructions

1

Go to the "File" menu and select the "Page Set-up" option. Choose the "Label" option under the "Publication Setup" dialogue box. Select the Avery address label marked "3.4 x 9.9 cm." This is the appropriate size for a standard name tag. It will print 16 to a page.
2

Design your label right on the template. Work to find a balance between images and text. Since you're making a name tag, the name should take up the majority of the space. Type something like, "Hi, my name is ..." across the top of the tag in a 14- or 18-point font, then drop down and either type the name of the person on the tag in a 20 point font or leave a blank space for handwritten names.
3

Go to the "Insert" menu and browse to the location of an image or a company logo you'd like to insert on the name tag. Click the image and it will appear on the tag. If the image isn't correctly sized, you will be able to select it, resize it and position it once it is inserted on your name tag. To resize, click on a corner of the image and drag the corner to a new size position. You can also click on one of the edges to resize the same way, which allows you to resize the image vertically or horizontally.
4

Purchase the Avery product for this template, which is J8L62. You can also use another brand, as long as the name tag measurements are the same. You can find these products at office supply stores. Be sure the tags are facing up or down according to your printer's direction. Load between 10 to 15 sheets at a time, then go to "File" and select the "Print" option. From the dialogue box, indicate whether you want to print one name tag as a preview, or all of them.
