    • The Art Institute of Ohio-Cincinnati offers an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts. The program uses a learner-centered approach to the culinary arts, focusing on providing students with a detailed background in culinary arts along with knowledge of the business end of the field. In addition, students are provided with a background in general studies to round out their education. Students are taught by professional chefs in modern kitchens. The Associate's Degree requires 96 credits, or 6 quarters of work.

    Cincinnati State Technical and Community College

    • The Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (CSTCC) also offers an Associate's degree in the culinary field, but their degree is an Associate of Applied Business. All of these programs are operated under the umbrella of the Midwest Culinary Institute, a part of the College. The program prepares students to work in restaurants, hotels, clubs, resorts, or any other business in the hospitality field. Graduates of this program are qualified to enter the University of Cincinnati's Bachelor's program. CSTCC also offers several other certificates in the culinary field, such as a Pastry Arts certificate and a Personal Chef certificate.

      This Associate's program will prepare students for a career in the culinary industry. CSTCC states on its website that graduate placement in work situations in 100%.

    University of Cincinnati

    • The University of Cincinnati operates its Bachelor's of Science degree in Culinary Arts and Sciences in partnership with the CSTCC. Students spend the first two years of the program at CSTCC earning the Associate's degree, at which point they move on to the university for the last two years of their study. This program is the only one of its type in Ohio, and one of only eight in the entire United States. The last two years of study involve a more intensive examination of the science of food, as students learn about food-processing technologies, food-product development, shelf life and how quality food products are manufactured. This program is intended to make students eligible for work in as many fields of food service as possible, including not only food preparation and service, but management, research and development, food analysis, process and manufacturing, marketing and sales.
