Wyoming archery clubs promote safety and knowledge that enables their members to improve their skills. Most clubs in Wyoming organize hunting outings that can involve deer, elk or bear in the Rocky Mountains. They also provide support and training for people who prefer to shoot targets on a range. To that end, the clubs often host tournaments and competitions that help keep their members' skills sharp. - Elk are popular bow targets in Wyoming.elk image by Earl Robbins from Fotolia.com
Many of the archery clubs in Wyoming are affiliated with the Bow Hunters of Wyoming (B.O.W). B.O.W. is a hunter advocacy group that works with the state legislature and state's Game and Fish Department on bow hunter issues.
It has successfully lobbied for archery-only hunting seasons and increasing the length of seasons up to 30 days. B.O.W. raises and disburses money for habitat improvement. The organization is working with the Game and Fish Department to make the International Bowhunter Education Program mandatory to anyone hunting with bows in Wyoming.
The organization holds events that give affiliate clubs and individual members the opportunity to socialize and discuss bow hunting issues. It also conducts a family oriented summer jamboree with activities for all ages.
