Despite what you've been told, nicotine withdrawal isn't terribly painful.
What people complain about when they're quitting smoking, however, is their mind being still stuck on the idea of having that cigarette.
Our bodies process nicotine very quickly.
Nicotine withdrawal is what prompts you to smoke another cigarette, generally within 30 to 60 minutes of putting your last one out.
It's not, however, a long drawn-out thing that takes months to completely go away.
If you were to quit now, your body would be almost entirely free from nicotine within two or three days.
The hard part in quitting comes from the method people choose to quit with.
Most people tell themselves that they're going to quit because they want to save money, live longer, or something else like that.
In their mind, they're giving up cigarettes to achieve something else.
Any time you 'give up' something, well, you're going to miss it.
Especially if that something is habitually tied to your life and you don't know how to break those ties.
The trick to quitting smoking and not worrying about it lies in understanding that your belief that cigarettes somehow benefit you is entirely false (believe me, it is.
You'll find out all about this in a bit) and that cigarettes can only bring you down, even if they temporarily seem to uplift you.
That seems kind of like a pointless statement, but the uplifting feeling from smoking actually comes from the way that smoking only relieves the empty feeling that the last cigarette caused, instead of actually making you feel better.
