Easy Ways to Stop Smoking
If you are in an ongoing battle with nicotine addiction I have some good news and bad news.
So which would you like first? Ok, I'll give the bad first.
There is hope, on average about 50% of all active smokers have made at least one attempt to stop smoking, however, only 2 to 5% of those people become successful after 1 year.
Now the good news, you do NOT have to be one of the people without support.
I will give you a small testimony about myself and how I quit smoking.
I had been addicted to cigarettes (Newports) for about three or four years.
I had attempted to stop smoking about three times before I was actually successful.
I can still remember the first attempt that I made, I had been having problems with breathing correctly which I had suspected was due to my smoking habit.
In this first attempt I was semi successful, I went without a cigarette for almost 7 weeks.
Then me and my girlfriend broke up and I relapsed.
The breakthrough for me came when I realized a very important technique that helped me to quit.
It was like an epiphany, if I was going to get rid of such an integral part of my life I was going to have to substitute it with something.
Now this might sound silly, but for me the best substitute was candy, yes candy! Jolly ranchers.
Every time that I wanted to smoke a cigarette I just ate a piece of candy instead.
Now I will have to admit that at first it wasn't easy, I had plenty of friends who smoked and being around them while they smoked made it hard.
I think what ultimately got me through was the fact that my friends smoked Marlboro Lights which didn't tempt me much.
Now I am not sure that your substitute for smoking will be the same as mines.
I am sure that not everyone loves Jolly Ranchers as much as me! So when you are choosing your substitute for smoking be wise in your decision.
Maybe you like exercise, or maybe you love making music, whatever it may be just make sure that it is something that is convenient enough that you can do whenever the urge to smoke arises.
I know how nasty and unhealthy smoking can be, so I truly hope that this article has been helpful and that these tips help you get started on your way to quitting.
Best of Luck!
